GoldenMeadow Gallery
The GoldenMeadow Gallery occupies 320sqm across the hotel's first and second floors - purpose-built exhibition space with track lighting calibrated to museum-grade lux levels and humidity control that meets the conditions required for loan works from institutional collections. Every 90 days, the gallery rehang features exclusively ACT-based artists, selected by a rotating curatorial panel drawn from Canberra's arts organisations including Craft ACT and the M16 Artspace community. The gallery is open to the public as well as hotel guests, which gives it a different energy to a hotel lobby art collection - it functions as an actual exhibition venue that happens to sit inside a hotel.
Museum-Calibrated Lighting
Track lighting across both gallery floors operates at 200 lux with UV-filtering lenses - the same specification used by the National Gallery of Australia for works on paper and light-sensitive media.
90-Day Rotation Cycle
Each quarterly hang is treated as a discrete exhibition with its own title, curatorial statement, and opening event - not a rolling replacement of individual pieces, but a complete programme with a defined beginning and end.
ACT-Exclusive Artist Selection
The curatorial brief restricts selection to artists with a current primary practice in the Australian Capital Territory - a constraint that makes the gallery a meaningful document of what Canberra's art community is producing right now.
Public Access Hours
The gallery operates independently of hotel check-in requirements - open 10am to 6pm daily to all visitors, which generates foot traffic from the surrounding Civic area and maintains the gallery's credibility as a genuine public venue.
Artist Introduction Programme
Concierge staff are briefed on each exhibition and can facilitate direct introductions to featured artists for guests who want to move beyond viewing - past introductions have resulted in studio visits and direct acquisition conversations.
Private Viewing Appointments
Hotel guests can request an out-of-hours private viewing of the current exhibition - the gallery is opened exclusively for that guest between 7am and 9am or after 6pm with a staff member present to answer questions and manage the space.
